Moderator - Clive Couldwell, Editor of AV Europe magazine

Clive has edited AV for the past two years. In 2012, the magazine celebrated 40 years in business - a publishing and pro-AV milestone.

A seasoned conference moderator, Clive is also an award-winning business technology, marketing and science journalist who brings with him over 30 years of publishing experience. A former Editor of Which Computer? he launched and fronted the first business tv service for the IT industry. He has also written extensively for The Times, The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Wall Street Journal.

Duffy Wilbert, CTS, Senior Vice President of Membership, InfoComm International

Duffy Wilbert, CTS, is InfoComm International’s Senior Vice President of Membership, overseeing membership recruitment, retention and general association sales as well as the association’s market research and industry outreach initiatives. He joined InfoComm International in 2003.
A 30-year veteran of the audiovisual industry, he is no stranger to the association. Wilbert has served in multiple volunteer capacities over the years, including six years as Chairman of the Professional Education and Training Committee. He also has developed courses for the Institute for Professional Development and served more than a dozen years as an InfoComm faculty member conducting courses on sales, video and system design. Wilbert has been honored as the association’s Educator of the Year and holds lifetime certification as a Communication Technology Specialist.
Prior to joining InfoComm, Wilbert worked for 13 years in the professional divisions of Sony Electronics in varying capacities including market development, sales, and operations. As Director of National Sales Operations for the Broadcast and Professional group, he led the group through a major transition and was responsible for all order management and receivables. Wilbert also has many years experience as an audiovisual reseller. He first joined the AV industry in broadcasting.


Kiat Huang, AV Technology & Partner Manager, Google

Kiat Huang is currently the AV team's partner manager and product owner at Google.  For the past 5 years, he has led AV and IT teams including software development, deployments, support. Kiat has 12 years of operational and management experience at Google, Red Hat and Oxford University.



Simon Birkett, Technology Enhanced Learning Manager, Institute for Learning Enhancement and Innovation, University of Derby and Chair of SCHOMS

Simon leads the Technology Enhanced Learning team within the Institute for Learning Enhancement and Innovation at the University of Derby. His team promotes and develops the use of Learning Technology by offering academic support and guidance through a network of Learning Technology Advisers, developing and enhancing electronic learning systems and offering a range of media services for the production of high quality learning materials. He has responsibility for research and development within this area and for innovation in the design of learning and teaching spaces and the integration of classroom audio visual (AV) technology.

Simon is the Chair of SCHOMS, a Higher Education (HE) professional body that represents 88 UK HE institutions. SCHOMS specialises and promotes media services, the deployment of classroom technology and AV equipment and Innovation in the design of learning spaces.

Originally from the creative industries, Simon has worked in Higher Education for 19 years, the last eight years in senior management positions. Particular interests are the strategic management of learning technologies and engaging with non-traditional practitioners; led through his interest and research into the resistance to technology adoption. He is a member of Academic Board at the University and sits on several major committees.


Mark Large, FBCS, CITP, FCMI, FIoD, FIMIS, Director of ICT at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London, UK
With more than 30 years IT experience, Mark is an accomplished leader, manager, and communicator. In just three years, Mark has transformed Great Ormond Street Hospital’s IT infrastructure from end to end and introduced the concept of “Commoditised IT,” which enables rapid response to the organisation’s needs and the delivery of significantly improved solutions and services, including comprehensive video communications and content. He has been with the NHS for eight years, with previous positions at Oracle and charity organisations, among others. He is a frequent industry speaker on the value of IT in achieving positive business outcomes.


Bob Snyder, Editor-in-Chief, rAVe EUROPE, a publication of Channel Media Europe Ltd.
Bob Snyder is the Editor-in-Chief of CHANNEL MEDIA EUROPE LTD, content provider and channel consultant to high tech companies in Europe and Middle East. A well-known speaker on European IT and AV industry trends, Bob has been a guest speaker for international leaders as well as research organizations and trade associations. Channel Media Europe publishes several e-newsletters for international channels and Bob still serves as Editor-in-Chief. These channel e-newsletters & portals include: Consumer IT, European Solution Provider (eSP), rAVe Europe, Digital Signage News EMEA, , ECI and On CE. Over a career of 30 years, Bob has distinguished himself by the breadth of his experience in EMEA channels. He has an enviable amount of industry contacts at all levels: dealer, reseller, distributor, event organizers, press & vendor.


Joel R. Rollins, CTS, General Manager of Everett Hall Associates

Joel R. Rollins, CTS, is currently General Manager of Everett Hall Associates. Before joining EHA, he was General Manager of Riverview Systems Group, Inc., Director of Sales for Extron Electronics, and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at ADCOM Presentation Group Limited.
Rollins' professional AV career spans 20 years. He has designed AV presentation facilities for corporations such as AT&T, IBM, Ford Motor Company, NCR and EDS, and directed the staging of the 1995 and 1996 Microsoft Global Summit. He is a past member of InfoComm's Board of Governors(currently Board of Directors). In addition, he has been an active contributor to InfoComm University educational programs; an instructor at the Institute for Professional Development classes offered at InfoComm’s tradeshows, co-authoring and chairing AV and multimedia courses; and author and facilitator of the Rental School Onsite. He received the InfoComm Educator of the Year award in 2001.
Currently, he writes monthly columns for Rental and Staging Systems and rAVe for rental and staging, and contributes to several other industry journals.


Robert Simpson, Founder Director, Electrosonic
Robert Simpson graduated from Trinity College, Oxford in 1961 with a degree in Physics. After a brief period as technical manager of Recorded Sound Ltd, he co-founded Electrosonic Ltd in 1964, and Electrosonic Inc (USA) in 1972. He was Chairman of Electrosonic Ltd for the period 1964 ? 2004, and is now a director of, and adviser to, the international Electrosonic Group. He is a frequent writer and lecturer on Audio Visual and Lighting Control topics, and is the author of "Effective Audio Visual" (Focal Press/Elsevier 1987, 1992, 1996) "Videowalls" (Focal Press, 1990) "Videowalls - The Book of the Big Electronic Image" (Focal Press 1997) and “Lighting Control – Technology and Applications” (Focal Press 2003). In respect of audio-visual and display engineering, he has worked on many corporate, control room, EXPO, museum, theme park and permanent exhibition projects. He is a life member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (USA), a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, a Fellow of the British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society (UK), and a member of the Society for Information Display (USA). In 2008 he was awarded the INFOCOMM Distinguished Achievement Award. In 2007 – 2009 he was Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the UK Displays & Lighting Knowledge Transfer Network.


Blair J. Parkin, Managing Director, Visual Acuity Limited
Blair is a technologist, entrepreneur and business leader with extensive experience of the audiovisual, visualization, presentation and computing technologies, applications and markets.  He has led software and hardware technology businesses worldwide with full P&L responsibility at companies ranging from $250 million to the current consulting group with revenues of circa $6 million. He is an excellent communicator and in his daily working life he liaises with a wide variety of people within a project environment. Blair is an acknowledged expert in display technology and its related products and markets. Sustainable development including financial and operational sustainability, social responsibility and leadership in energy and environmental design are areas that Blair is also renowned worldwide. Blair is passionate about technology, successful project delivery as well as human communication and understanding.


Peter H. Putman, CTS, ISF, President of ROAM Consulting LLC
Peter H. Putman, CTS, ISF, is president of ROAM Consulting LLC in Doylestown, PA. He provides consulting, training and product testing/development services to manufacturers of electronic displays, interfaces, and digital TV and video equipment. In addition, he edits and publishes HDTVexpert.com, a website focused on digital TV, HDTV and display technologies.
Putman has written extensively on HDTV and display technology for numerous consumer and trade magazines, and is a frequent speaker at major tradeshows and technical conferences, including the Consumer Electronics Show, the National Association of Broadcasters tradeshow, the Hollywood Post Alliance Technology Retreat, and the InfoComm International tradeshow. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Seton Hall University and a Master of Science degree in Television and Film from Syracuse University.
Putman is a member of InfoComm University faculty, as well as a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and Society for Information Display (SID). He also holds certifications from InfoComm (CTS) and the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), and has held Amateur Radio Extra Class license KT2B since 1982. He received the 2008 Educator of the Year Award at InfoComm 08.
